We've selected a few starting universal racial traits for your race, but you decide the details. Can they see in the dark? Do they naturally eat metals and have a strong jaw? If you need ideas, look at the below examples or DnD source material for inspo! 

Always do what feels right for your character, not for what you think makes them stronger.

Racial traits are not meant to help you win, but to let you live creatively as an individual.

If staff finds racial abilities are being used unfairly, we reserve the right to remove/nerf abilities.

This is how we keep things fair. Thank you for understanding!

Important standard rules for racial abilities:

  • Must be directly related to your character's race.

  • Cannot actively heal HP. Self-regen over a day outside combat is ok!

  • Manipulation skills (i.e. charm) require 2 posts to cast.

  • Should not be AOE, single target only.

  • You cannot stack abilities. Each ability can only do one thing per move.

  • Communication skills must be noticeably used IC (moving lips, etc), single target & must follow rules for calling for help.

  • Must not give you an unfair advantage over other players.

Please, none of the following:

  • Group telepathy as this creates unfair situations for others.

  • Elemental shifts of spellbooks. (Exception is Genasi using their element as magic)

  • No Damage causing or dice buffs for abilities

Examples of abilities and traits

Feel free to copy these if you feel they work well with your race.

  • Jaws: Able to bite through stone or metal if you can get your mouth around it.

  • Dreamwalker: Able to step into the dreams of a person upon touch and alter them. (Requires OOC consent check-in)

  • Mated Bond: You go through a ceremony that pairs you and one partner's emotions and feelings. If they're in pain, so are you. This becomes passive for both players once solidified. (Requires OOC Consent)

  • Tracker: Strong nose follows the scent of a person toward their general location. (All tracking skills require active consent from the tracked player. RL happens!)

  • Heightened senses: Able to see in the dark, sensitive nose, excellent hearing.

  • Amphibious: Able to breathe underwater (some dragons, fey or other aquatics)

  • Empathy: Sensitive to visual cues to feel emotions of those around you.

  • Steel Stomach: Able to digest pretty much anything you eat. Not immune to poison.

  • Poison Immunity: Poisons do not effect you.
